AotM: Sheet Music by Ann Lister (Review + Giveaway)

Please join us in welcoming our Author of the Month for June, the very talented Ann Lister!!! <3

Sheet Music: A Rock 'N' Roll Love Story

Annie Logan and her band, White Rush, have been waiting years for their big break. Taking a last chance at stardom, Annie enters them into a ‘battle of the bands contest’ and wins an opportunity to perform with the legendary rock band, Thrust. This twist of fate puts Annie on a collision course with her larger-than-life rock hero, the infamous guitar God, Michael Wade. Annie’s model good looks and Michael’s dangerously raw rock ‘n’ roll swagger are like a burning fuse on a stick of dynamite. Would she be the woman to finally tame Michael’s wild ways and show him the true meaning of love or would the gritty reality of the music industry prove to be more than she could handle?

A wild ride behind the scenes, Sheet Music will give you a backstage pass into the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle full of egos, excess and extremes; where sometimes even true soul mates aren’t strong enough to survive the heat of the spotlight.

32-year-old Annie Logan is growing impatient waiting for her band, White Rush, to get a break.  Growing up with music as her only salvation from an alcoholic and emotionally abusive father, she has always dreamed of becoming a famous musician. So when her band gets picked as a finalist in a Battle of the Bands contest she's ecstatic.  If they win they'll get the opportunity to play with the legendary rock band Thrust.  And to prepare, their band get's Thrust guitarist Michael Wade to mentor them.

From the moment Annie and Michael first laid eyes on one another, there was an inexplicable attraction.  Unfortunately, they both know it's a bad idea to be anything other than professional, but you can't fight intense lust and passion and so begins the "Epic Rollercoaster Ride of Love" between Annie and Michael.  Marriage, cheating, betrayals, death, drugs and alcohol. This story has it all.

I love Ann Lister books and I remember the first time I read Sheet Music back in 2012. I recall the wild ride of emotions this book evoked as I read about Annie's rise to fame and her relationship with Michael. Their marriage and the troubles they went through.  Reading the story again now, however, I can't help but feel a little differently about the characters.

I have to honestly say I am not a fan of Annie. I felt as if her character was not easy to connect with and the way she treated Micheal irritated me to no end. They had a very volatile relationship but underneath it, it was quite apparent that Michael loved her deeply. However, at times I felt that while Annie obviously loved him, too, she seemed to have a need for punishing him. Her actions screamed of a lifetime of resentment and it makes it hard to root for the couple when it seems they may be better off apart.

I think Ann Lister did a wonderful job with her writing and crafting such a book.  However, I am pretty sure I'm more of a fan of her MM.

4 Stars!

Ann Lister is a native New Englander currently living on the island of Martha's Vineyard with her husband. She has pulled details from her years living in the New England area and uses many local settings and landmarks in her novels.

After graduating art school, marrying, and raising two daughters, she established her own video production company. Her nearly two decades working in video production included work within the music industry and won her a coveted Telly Award. Her 'behind-the-scenes' exposure to the music world and her love of rock music is the inspiration for her erotic rock star romances.

The Rock Gods series gave her Bestselling Author status on Amazon. Beyond The Music, Book 7 in the series, reached #1 in Gay Erotica in the Pre-Order and held that spot for several weeks. The last book in the series launches the spin-off series, Guarding The Gods, which is releasing in early summer 2016.

Fall For Me, Book One in the series was a Finalist in the 2013 Rainbow Award. Each book in this series brings her two favorite elements together: musicians and the love between two men. These stories focus on what it truly means to love; love unconditionally, love without restrictions or labels, love without fear or judgment – to just simply love.
